HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! I know it's already February but I've been a bit stuck on inspiration on what to write recently. Finally, whilst sitting in a lecture on Artist PR & Publicity, I had an idea.

In the middle of January I moved back up to London, after having an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas/New Year at home, ready to start the second semester. Into the third week back and I had quite a few lecture notes to write up. Now I love listening to relaxing, ear pleasing music whilst writing assignments and notes, as it helps me concentrate. So naturally I go onto Spotify and have a browse of their playlists. One that caught my attention right away was 'Very Nearly Nashville'. I have a secret love for country music, although it is not my go to choice. I watch 'Nashville', the TV show religiously (love Hayden Panettiere, aka Juliet) and I love the songs on there so I thought I would give it a listen! Anyway, I fell in love.

Some artists featured on the playlist include, The Shires, Ward Thomas, and Miranda Lambert. However, three songs stuck out for me. The first being 'Stay My Love' by Una Healy (previously in The Saturdays) and Sam Palladio (aka Gunnar in Nashville). I had seen a clip of the music video but not heard the song. I was really impressed and will be playing it on repeat! It's really heartfelt, and their vocals mix so nicely together.

The other two songs are by the same artist, Catherine McGrath. The first song was 'Cinderella' and I honestly thought it was an old Taylor Swift song! Her vocals are so similar but so distinct. The song is really nice and slow, and the vocals are clear. The second song 'Hell Would Have To Freeze Over' is a bit more upbeat, but still slow. This time I thought at the beginning it was Lucy Hale singing, and then I realised the vocals sounded similar to ones I'd heard previously. It is a really catchy song and I haven't been able to get it out of my head!

I think I might post more like this, and give an inside into what songs and artists I'm really enjoying.
