February Favourites

So this is something new... I thought that each month I could write a post about some of my most listened to songs. Some may be new, old, in the charts, or independent, unknown artists.
Starting February off had to be my Queen, Katy Perry, with her new track 'Chained To The Rhythm'. This has been her first song in three years... THREE YEARS. It has a really reggae/pop vibe. The first performance was at The Grammy Awards, where she made a political statement. She wore an armband saying 'persist', and the stage was made up of a white picket fence, and ends with a graphic of the Constitution appearing behind her. The song features Bob Marley's grandson, Skip Marley, who also appeared with her during The Grammy performance. The performance ended with Skip & Katy holding hands, and Katy shouting 'no hate'. She also performed at The Brit Awards. I love this song and have had it on near enough every day!
The next song I've been obsessed with is 'Those Days Are Gone' by Busted. This has been ever since I saw them in concert (if you want to check that blog post out here) where they sung it at the end.
An artist who I have recently discovered, through a Spotify playlist, is Catherine McGrath (I also wrote a blog post on that playlist). There are two songs I love, 'Cinderella' and 'Hell Would Have To Freeze Over'. I will definietly be keeping an eye, and supporting her through her career.
Rag'n'Bone Man has been an artist that has suddenly exploded. I reviewed his album in a previous post here. A song that stuck out to me, and one I've listened to quite frequently is 'As You Are'.
The last song is an oldie.. I loved this when I was in school and when this album came out. It is 'Simple Song' by Miley Cyrus. Surprisingly (or not) I still know all the lyrics, and had a proper jam out to it whilst making pancakes on Pancake Day!
So that's it for February!
