Lawson, a four piece pop-rock band, consisting of members, Andy Brown (lead vocals & guitar), Joel Peat (backing vocals & lead guitar), Adam Pitts (backing vocals & drums) & Ryan Fletcher (backing vocals & bass guitar). They formed in late 2009, and were known as 'The Groves' but soon changed their name to 'Lawson' after Dr. David Lawson performed a life-saving brain surgery on the lead singer, Andy. The band were later signed to Polydor Records, and began opening for some big named artists, including Will Young and Jessie J. Their first single was released in 2012, 'When She Was Mine', and it reached Number 4 in the UK charts. Since then they have further released 9 singles, including 'Brokenhearted' featuring B.O.B, and 'Where My Love Goes'. Their first album 'Chapman Square' was released in 2012, and their second album, 'Perspective', was released on July 2016.

So since the album release, Lawson had been pretty quiet on the live gig front. However, at the beginning of October, they announced a one-off show, in London. This show would basically be them playing the 'Perspective' album in full, with a few crowd faves thrown in as well. So for me, I had to be there. I know when everything got revealed, there was a lot of mixed feelings on Twitter. People were upset that it was only one show, and that the show was in London, and others were over the moon!

Anyway, fast forward 3 weeks to the night. The first support act was a guy called John Buckley. During his set, he told the audience that this was his first big gig that he'd ever done! He was really talented and had a sort of James Morrison/James Bay vibe to his set.
The second support act was a band called The Frontiers. They are three-piece rock/electronic band made up of three brothers, Simon, Guy & Philip. The set was really different, which was good, other than something went wrong towards the end, but they managed to recover quickly. They did have some music parts that were very similar to Lawson.
Now Lawson, they did such a long set which made me incredibly happy. True to their word they performed the whole of the second album (not the deluxe). The songs were even better live, and when Andy sung 'Where My Love Goes', my heart just heart. It was so beautiful. Also, when they sung 'Brokenhearted', Andy attempted to do B.O.B's rap and oh my it was funny.. Great attempt there Andy :D
Here are some of the songs sung:
- Perspective (Intro)
- We Are The Fire
- Money
- Where My Love Goes
- Rio
- When I'm Old
- Only Water
- Lion's Den
- Roads
- I Look Anyway
- Used To Be Us
- Love & War
- When She Was Mine
- Taking Over Me
- Standing In The Dark
- Learn To Love Again
- Brokenhearted
- Make It Happen
It was the most amazing night and I had so much fun! I even tested out how Facebook Live worked! I'm so sad that it's over because it went so quickly.
Unfortunately, I knew that good things don't always last, and that there was a reason why they only did one show rather than a tour. Lawson have announced (actually it was Andy! but..) that they are going to be doing their own separate things for a while. They are NOT breaking up, but have decided to take a small (hopefully not long), but well deserved 'break'. I can totally understand why because they have all been through so much these past couple of years and everyone needs a break now and then.
