5 Seconds of Summer, are a four piece pop-rock band, from Sydney, Australia, consisting of members, Luke Hemmings (lead vocals & guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar, keyboard & vocals), Calum Hood (bass & vocals) and Ashton Irwin (drums & vocals). They formed in 2011 and rose to international fame in 2013, after becoming the support act on One Direction's 'Take Me Home' world tour. Late 2013, they announced they had signed to Capitol Records. In 2014, they released their debut major label single 'She Looks So Perfect', where it spent one week at the top of the UK charts before dropping down to 10th place. Mid 2014 they released their first album, which is self-titled '5 Seconds Of Summer', and in 2015 their second studio album, 'Sounds Good Feels Good', was released. They have also set up their own record label, 'Hi Or Hey Records', where they will be releasing all their music in conjunction with Capitol Records and Universal Music.
October 2015, 5SOS announced the 'Sounds Live Feels Live World Tour', which was to be held in 2016. The UK leg of the tour kicked off in Sheffield on the 5th of April and I managed to get tickets for the 2nd date of tour, at the O2 Arena in London, on the 7th of April.
My seats were at the front of Block 106, which is the opposite end of the arena to the stage. However, they were really good, and I could see everything really clearly.

The one thing I would say that I don't particularly like about 5SOS gigs, is the screaming fan-girls. For me it ruins it a little bit, especially if you have one shrieking down your ear.
Jessarae, the support act, from LA was incredible. He had a sort of Jake Bugg/James Bay sort of vibe, and his songs were really catchy! His voice is so unique and he also did a cover of 'Same Old Love' by Selena Gomez. Honestly, if you didn't know the song you would think it was his own because he totally owned it!
So onto 5SOS. I knew their set-list before the day and I had real mixed feelings about it. There were a lot of old songs on there, which of course I adore, but I was hoping they would focus more on the new album. However, I did enjoy the old songs thoroughly as it reminded me of all the previous old 5SOS gigs I had been to.
Anyway here is the set-list:
- Carry On
- Hey Everybody
- Money
- Disconnected (<3)
- Don't Stop
- Heartache On The Big Screen
- Outer Space
- Waste The Night
- Castaway
- Jet Black Heart
- Amnesia
- Beside You
- Vapour
- Catch Fire
- End Up Here
- VooDoo Doll
- Good Girls
- Permanent Vacation
- What I Like About You
- She's Kinda Hot
- She Looks So Perfect
I love that they still play Disconnected, as it is a personal favourite of mine, and when they sung Beside You, the whole arena was singing along and it made me so proud of just how far 5SOS have come since they last played the O2, three years ago. The one thing that I was confused about, was why they didn't play Safety Pin, as it is one of the main, most powerful songs on the new album, as well as being the inspiration for the new logo?! Another song I wish they had played was Invisible, because Calum's voice on the recorded version is just perfection!
I think everyone needs to appreciate how talented Michael Clifford actually is... when he sung the beginning of Jet Black Heart, it was honestly the most beautiful thing. His voice is so underrated and the amount of emotion he puts into it shows his passion for music and the band. He also made up a song called 'Bangers & Mash'!
The night was so incredible and I'm quite sad that it is over and I don't know when I am next going to see them again, but I really hope they take a long, well deserved break after this tour.
